A word of warning about musl. Alpine ships with musl as its default libc implementation. Its DNS resolver tends to act very differently than glibc. This can prove problematic in certain types of applications where you may be interacting with slow DNS resolvers, or relying on glibc's behaviour.
Fortunately, Alpine actually supports glibc, and there are examples of using it in a Docker container: https://hub.docker.com/r/frolvlad/alpine-glibc/~/dockerfile/ -- the image clocks in at about 12MB.
