We migrated to Open Distro 1.4.0 (Elasticsearch 7.4.2) with no problem (our current stack is CCP 2.0.1 over HDP 3.1.4).
The only drawback - it is impossible to manage the elastic cluster via Ambari due to lack Ambari Management Pack for Open Distro.
