Even if this box does not perform any critical services, I feel that it
is bad practice to send password through mail, especially to public
lists. I suggest you change the passwords to your installation.

I could verify this behaviour, your reports are accurate. I suggest you
take a look at the mysql error-log. You may have to turn on mysql-logging
first. I have nothing but a hunch to go by, but I get a feeling that
there is something wrong with your mysql libraries. What version of mysql
are you running? Have you verified that you do not have any older mysql
libraries lying around? Did you check that the midgard user has the
correct permissions on the midgard database?
