Some more observations which may help:

My host table (still have to clean those LOCALHOSTs up):

When I try to log in to http://admin.wochenanzeiger.de/, my
browser's authentication dialogue starts with the right
sitegroup (as visible in the HTTP Basic Auth Realm). After the
first failed login attempt (as a user of that SG w/o any login
delimiters or SG specification), the server switches back to SG0
-- and no sitegroup modifier such as "user+sitegroup" has yet
been able to make it switch back, despite the Only Viable
Login(tm), the one of the Sitegroup Administrator.

Still puzzled ...
