But it's simple (for the user). Truth be told, I don't
really like it either, but for a different reason. It
doesn't mesh well with the current implementation (or
any straightforward implementation I can think of).

But, if it solves a problem for the user it might be
worth it. I really think we need to think that way,
at least at first. If the implementation is too nasty
we can always change our minds.

Fair enough. I'm not sure this is realistic, but lets
say we go with it. How can I present this to the user
so that s/he can:
  1. understand the structure at a glance
  2. take advantage of the structure easily?

Point 1 might not be so hard. Maybe a list of links
with properties isn't so hard to understand.

The second one is harder. Especially since it violates
the separation of style and content again (although
not as bad this time). The "style" for an article
should mesh nicely with the style for the page. For
example, you might want to highlight a given article,
but "highlight" might mean something else depending
on the style. Really you should be able to choose a
style element from the current page style to display
the article. Then if you modify the style for the
page, the style applied to the article changes auto-
magically.

What we need then is a way (an API call) that says
"display this article with this style element". But
that means re-thinking the we style elements currently
work.

Hmm. Could work.

... Ami.
