What does 'nm midgard.so | grep user_call' return? For me it returns

0000d434 T midgard_user_call_func

midgarduser_call_func is not an conditional (by use of compiler 
directives) part of midgard-php4, so I don't see how one part can be 
requiring it while the other part can't deliver.
