Hi I also be new in Midgard, but for a week we are working hard to become
something quite nice (www.gyrl.ch)

First of all, you have to understand the foundment of Midgard. A web page is
based on three elements :
a website
a style
and a news / article

So first step, you create a new host with midgard. If it's the same domain
name, you can go to the next point. If you create your host with a virtual
domain, you need to edit the apache.conf file and add the new virtual host.

The, you have to make a style sheet for your domain. You can edit a page
with an HTML editor like GoLive and simply paste the HTML code in midgard,
without content. Just the layout.

The put the tag <(content)> in your layer at the place you want to see your
content (topic / article).

The, you have to create a content. Best case is to create a topic with some
articles.

Finally, you have to create a website page (Nadmin) or host page (admin /
asgard). The easyest way is to copy a page from the example site. So copy
the news page from VMUC and paste the code in your new page. You will find 3
elements... the page and two tags. Now you have to edit this three elements
to pass your content.
All topic have an id given by midgard. You now have to remplace the id in
the pages root and init-code with the id of your topic. You have also to
replace the path "news" in the tag article with your path.

And now, just see the result !

Objet : [midgard-user] Building a new midgard site

Hello,
I am a new Midgard user and I have a few questions regarding making a new
Midgard project.

After I have made a new host and I want to add topics and articles to it,
how do I specify
which host they belong to?

If I make a new host based on another one (for example the VMUC site) the
structure is
obviously inherited, but how do I change the content (text in article
headers for example)
in the inherited elements? I only seem to able to get at the elements
inherited from not the
inherited elements. Do I have to create a new element with the same name or
id to override
the content of the inherited ones or what?

Where is the Tutorial you seem to have originally had online? (page not
found now)
It would be much appreciated to have any sort of step by step Tutorial,
however incomplete.

Thanks.

Helgi Petursson
