Currently Midgard operates without actual financial support,
like most Open Source projects do. The Midgard core developers
work on Midgard on their spare time. Ami Ganguli's work on
Midgard 2 is probably the only sponsored effort going on right
now.
While having actual paid developers would speed up the project,
it is not a necessary requirement for Midgard to advance.
There have been some ideas on how to organize corporate backing
of the project, but the problem is that nobody in the project
has the necessary time to set things up.
Of course, this is something where non-programmer volunteers
could also step in.
