rm -rf as you said before will do the trick. You'll need to remove
$prefix/lib/*midgard* and $prefix/include/midgard.

You need bzip2 and probably gnu tar to unpack the tarballs.
Mind that mod_midgard-preparse is not fully functional yet. It works
as long as you don't depend on global vars being set in snippets (exit
nadmin and asgard, stage left). It's being worked on.
