I've done some testing, and I think mod-preparser is ready for public beta.
This hasn't seen extreme loads, but so far I've seen 0 segfaults (I
wouldn't have announced beta otherwise, but still), a nice (if not earth-
shattering) increase in performance, a very slight decrease in memory
consumption (if I'm reading the 'top' data right), and easier debugging
(any problems, just load the cache file in vi).

Since things _are_ going to change before actual release (as soon as the
scripting backend stabilizes I'll probably revamp mmp) I'm not going to do
an actual package cut -- those willing to try can fetch the snaps, but I'd
highly recommend tracking CVS instead, since I'll be fixing stuff as
reports come in.

In order to install this you need latest CVS for midgard-lib, mod-
preparser, midgard-php4 and data. Read the READMEs for each, but basically:

1. Install midgard-lib as usual
2. Install mod_midgard-preparser as you would usually but make sure to read
the INSTALL part about MidgardPageCacheDir
3. Change mkall to add --enable-mgd-preparser to the configure line and run
it
4. Run database-upgrade from the data package.

Torben, could you create a category for mod_midgard-preparser in the
bugtracker? And should we have a separate category for midgard-php4 as
compiled for mmp?

Emile
