Thanks for the advice. I uninstalled midgard and the rpms and reinstalled, and once I 
had manually created a symbolic link from
/usr/lib/php/extensions/midgard.so to /usr/lib/php4/midgard.so it seems to work.

Having installed midgard am interested in installing nadmin and would like to confirm 
the url http://midgard.hklc.com/redhat71/ .
What needs to download as I noticed that they have older rpm versions of apache and 
php to get it to work with redhat 7.2 using
asgard as midgard admin.
