Yeah, I was getting this too for a while , does it say something aboutr a child
process as the thing that is dying? Some some weird reason random apache child
processes were dying in my old setup. Besides the annoying messages, I never
had  any problem with the site. Either serving pages or using nadmin.


This setup made those errors go away:

  Apache/1.3.20 (Unix)  Midgard/1.4.2-cvs-20011214/SG PHP/4.1.0


 in Mysql logs:
> 010524 18:23:14 Aborted connection 15 to db: 'midgard' user: 'midgard'
> host: `localhost' (Got an error reading communication packets)

this is known php/mysql issue:

the mysql  error when away for me when I started using mysql  3.23.4x series.
