I am still alive...I think...The MWS could/should be alive though last time I asked for suggestions I was met with a pretty stunning silence. I have been meaning to write Henri for awhile but will take this opportunity to put this out to everyone. It seems clear from where I am sitting that MWS, and maybe Midgard 'marketing' in general needs a jump start. I do think the MWS needs to come out weekly but we also need to make sure we can sustain a quality weekly publication. Ron and I sort of became frustrated late in his editorship and made it a biweekly publication. I think the best issues I have been associated with were those that Ron and I worked on together. We also went to some pains to plan issues out in advance so that there would be more time to work on individual articles. That also gave us time to do a good job editing and polishing the material.
On one hand it seems time to do another "state-of-the-project" statement, this might put everything in perspective and give us a context to write about what people are doing at the same time publicizing the time line for development. It may also be that I should step aside as MWS editor and let someone bring a new perspective to it, I want to help the community is whatever way I can. I am a little distracted lately with organizational stress and a ground up redesign at my day job. Having said that I really do believe a more team based approach would be much more healthy and sustainable...if I had two or three people contributing articles, especially technical articles, I think the quality, frequency and sustainability of the publication would be enhanced dramatically. My suggestion would be that those who would like to work on the MWS e-mail me offline and we could try to arrange a formal workflow/schedule etc. If someone has a better idea I am pretty willing to listen to the wishes of the community. kp > -----Original Message----- > From: Henri Bergius [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2002 12:32 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [midgard-user] Midgard-lite and publicity > > > Greetings! > > As the MWS seems to be dead these days (Ken, still alive?), > the project has been quite severely out of the public. > > At the same time, there are interesting developments like > midgard-lite going on that would definitely deserve more > attention.
