You are right. I have fink installed. I tried your config.guess but I
got a series of errors. So I got the latest config.guess from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/config and replaced the old config.guess
inside the midgard-lib directory.

Now I get these messages:

checking host system type... Invalid configuration
`powerpc-apple-darwin5.3': system `darwin5.3' not recognized

checking build system type... Invalid configuration
`powerpc-apple-darwin5.3': system `darwin5.3' not recognized
