Somewhere in that 7.5 meg it will have failed to parse
<[open-close-tag]> to a template call. What it does think it is
(specifically, if you can find it, the first case where template
matching fails), is important.

but in the file you attached earlier (38.php) I do not see the the
unexpanded open-close-tag... weird. I've added a little more targeted
logging which is enabled by ./configure --enable-parser-logging
