I'm not sure what I did (this was two years ago...), but it had something to do with the fact that I self-compiled MySQL and did something wrong during ./configure. Sorry, I can't help you further from here :-( If "mysql -u username -p databasename" works with the same settings you have in your MidgardDatabase directive, and Midgard doesn't, I'm out of ideas. :-( Live long and prosper!
