If you want to get all ROOT pages with mgd_list_pages(0) than Yes, but you may simply replace that with host/pages functionality where root page is accesible from host admin part. Slows down a little bit but not so much as other "slowest" IMHO Asgard listings. And of course complicate reverse tree from page element to ROOT page. But additional mgd_get_host($id) for getting root page should increase that I think.
