This is not dangerous. The files there are just some images in
the admin interfaces. This should not prevent Midgard Lite from
working.

The .tgz file there is mostly mean for Linux/UNIX users, it contains
exactly the same data as the .zip file.

Probably your extraction tool (WinZIP?) simply doesn't understand
that the file has been packed twice, first as a tar package, and
then gzipped...

Anyway, if you're on Windows you should use the ZIP file.

OK. Then you should probably consider the regular Midgard release
instead -- it will give you a far better performance on larger
sites or the Aegir CMS interface.
