On Redhat it's usually /etc/php.ini
Make a page containing:
<?php
phpinfo();
?>
Put this in Your document-root and access from a browser.
You should be able to see:
Configuration File (php.ini) Path
Om line 6 in the table, this is where you should put your php.ini
