I assume you mean 3.23.25a? 3.23.x has been the current version for quite a
while. The latest is 3.23.56 so that's a considerable number of versions
behind. Same for the 4.0.x series, that's currently at 4.0.12 which has just
been deemed production worthy. Previously it was considered "gamma" and
before that "beta". I'd assume 4.0.1 was considered "alpha" and far from
production quality...

That doesn't answer your question but you still should be running a newer
version of MySQL before even trying this I think.

.52-1mdk.i586.html for instance, or get newer binaries or source from

Subject: [midgard-user] midgard-lib-1.4.4 configure: libmysqlclient not
found

Hi,

I've been trying to install midgard on my mandrake 8.2 for the last day,
but I can't get past the configure script. For some sort of reason, the
script can't find my libmysqlclient.

The problem occurs with mysql-3.25a and also with mysql-4.0.1 (I tried
both).

Even passing the mysql-dir into the configure script doesn't solve the
problem. (in my case: /usr/lib/mysql ).

Last part of the messages from the configure script:

checking MySQL location... /usr
checking Expat location... /usr
checking Repligard binary owner... mysql
checking for library containing mysql_connect... no
configure: error: You need libmysqlclient

Can someone help me out on this one?

wkr,

Jacco
