Thank you Edwin, that helps somewhat. This is on RedHat, I'm trying to find out what version (I don't run this server and have to do root-level configuration through someone else, making this process a little harder).
Do you (or anyone else) know why midgard needs things like glib, cups and samba? I'm baffled as to why it would need gnome GUI stuff, SMB filesharing stuff or postscript printing tools.
