Thanks for your help. I eventually got things running.
It seems I had done everything correctly except i used the mod_midgard-preparse source code and not the regular mod package when compiling the midgard apache module.
Being a newbie to midgard I am not absolutly sure if this is the actual reason things didn't work though. I did notice that the midgard-root.php file differs between the two packages.
In any case after recomiling everything and using the mod_midgard package (not the -preparse one) midgard works.
Can anyone explain why - if this was the problem - the preparse version didn't work or what exactly is the difference between the two packages?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi,However when I go to the address http://<myserver>:<port>/admin by itselfWhat about http://<myserver>:<port>/admin/ ? The / might be significant.
I get the 404 message without being prompted for authentication.
The same happens with http://<myserver>:<port>/asgard .
http://<myserver>:<port>/example shows me the directory listing containing
the images ...Check the hosttabel in the midgard database. You must be sure that there is an entry that matches the url ou're looking up.
It is hard to tell exactly what is wrong here, but here are some hints: -> Set Apache Loglevel to debug and tail it see if midgard connects to the midgard databse when you call up the url.
-> Check httpd.conf and make sure you're not calling up another vhost on the machine.
-> The fact that it shows you a directory listing implys that midgard did not kick in for that uri, most probably because Apache didn't find the host in the midgard host table.
Ok and their path is correctly defined in httpd.conf? My "blobs" and "cache" directories are chowned to appropriate apache user/group .Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?Se above :)
