Thanks for your help. That problem seems to be solved:
We had imported the company using repligard and it had turned up in midgard with an empty companyname.
It seems Midgard was confused because the company name was empty, we've now given it a name, and we can change snippets now.
Mind you, in aegir, when we view the "company" admin page, under the heading "Admin Group" it says "Error in Company"
Don't know if we need to fix that.
