Hello,

mgd_get_topic_by_name($upid,$name) does exist
but it requires the ID of the topic above the
one you're looking for.

In your example (if jorgepiddo is a topic) you
could use:

mgd_get_topic_by_name($jorgepiddo->id,'noticias');

If you want to match URL-names to topic/article tree
take a look at NemeinNavBar (distributed with Aegir).
There's an URL-parser function that does just that.
