Do you have short_open_tag=On in php.ini?

Are you sure PHP has been loaded into your Apache?

Also, check again the AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
declaration in your Apache config

...and finally, check that you're using the midgard-root.php file
as your MidgardRootFile
