Ah, ok, I didn't know that this is possible. I tried to follow your advice but I have one more question (pardon me if this sounds silly, but I'm completely new to Midgard): To list_nodes (if that is the function you meant) you need the topic_id. How do I get it?
This is not a job for the newsticker component but for the Navigation
System of MidCOM (NAP). You can e.g. create a style for your newsticker
overview page (i.e. override the newsticker's original style by creating
similar named style elements in your current Style) and add NAP code
there instead of the default Article listing code.
You could set the overview item "count" to 0 and put the code in
show-index-header (or something like that, don't know the exact name
now), empty show-index-item.
With NAP, you get a list of sub-nodes (Topics) and leafs (Articles in
case of the newsticker) for the current Topic. Then you can sort them
and you're done.
