Maybe, these entries are a result bad administration in the past (i took over this job a few weeks ago). But in my opinion, the db-structure shouldn't allow this...
You're right about that, at least I can't think of a reason why Globally Unique IDs should be allowed to be non-unique. In practice however, the midgard code takes care of it and only creates guids for objects that don't already have one. I'm pretty certain this was done by modifying the DB directly.
Is it a staging / live setup? If not, and if the site logic does not use guids, I would just delete the extra guids, after backing up of course.
