Im still a newbie to midgard. I installed it several times but couldnt
complete work finally.
Midgard itselfs works fine but... not for the hole system.

I read a lot of the news in the community but its not very easy collecting
the right information for my situation. Im not responsible for working with
midgard but for installation of midgard in hosting linux systems.
There are some in the community who knows midgard perfectly. The information
you give solve problems very well but i think this is only a part of
helping. I want to learn more about midgard but to be honest i will never
come that close - i have to offer midgard to our customers (as ONE part of
hosting services). As long i can verify that i dont need to know much more.
Maybe i will know enough helping others and share my experiences with
midgard in coexitence to other tools (but there is a long way to go).

You (we) should work on a more compatible tool named midgard. In my opinion
midgard will be a product for 5 or 6 specialists in the future when
development ignore any compatibility with actual "as it is" systems like
RedHat 9, SuSE 9 .... But i dont know much about the development group and
the influence that this community could have.
I read the "offical" Midgard installation instructions right from the
beginning. But the installation part is only true for midgard 1.4. What
abaout 1.5 and (ok developmentary) 1.6.
For 1.5 there is a good instruction (INSTALL File) but there it starts that
everybody has to kill parts of the system who wants a running midgard. I
dont think this is the right way - and midgard is the only CMS i know where
this is necessary.

I think the community could have more members when newbies like me can find
easier ways implementing midgard in an exisitng system. There are several
other tools for installation for a hosting system not only midgard - but im
sure you know.

So what i'm really looking for all the time is: Which system/midgard combi
is the best for hosting with offering other services too? It would help me
save a lot of time not always trying the same things.... And i do have in
mind using a modern linux system. (Maybe a dream)

Sorry about that, I know parts of it were offtopic.

Thank You, Tom

Betreff: [midgard-user] Right System for midgard 1.6 with apache2

Dear all,

I always tried to install midgard 1.6.0 and apache 2 on RedHat 9 but it
doesnt work.

Maybe im wrong and i have to use a different system where midgard 1.6.0
could been installed with apache 2 without changing something within the
system. Could You tell me which system this could be?
If this midgard 1.6.0 is experimental/development only is there a (linux)
system where i can install midgard 1.5.0 without changing parts of the
system?

The documentation gives installation hints with RedHat 9 but very important
parts of the system must be reinstalled with former versions and that always
leads me to troubles with other tools later on, incompatible libs and so
on...

There has to be a system where midgard is fully compatible with....hope so.

Thx, Tom
