Dear juergen schmidt,

There are no folders named asgard, aegir and so on. The Admin-interfaces to midgard (asgard, nadmin, aegir, midcom,…) are based on mysql-database. Typing http://localhost/asgard/ (as long as the virtualhost is defined with (standard-)Port 8001) won’t lead to any result. So try http://localhost:8001/asgard/ (this is only reachable on the server itself)

Configuring for worldwide or lan access check the following:

in /path_to/midgard-data.conf (or whatever the file for midgards virtual host is named) there u have the ServerName and host IP address just like:

....

Listen 8001

NameVirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8001

<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8001>

 MidgardEngine On

 ServerName localhost

 Port 8001

....

The ServerName has to be the same within mysql database, where the mysql data could be seen best by using browser-based phpMyAdmin (http://www.phpmyadmin.net). The IP address could be a private IP (using for LAN, LAN-LAN, WAN-LAN) or public IP (using for WAN)

Using the standard installation both (virtual host and entries in mysql table: host) are named localhost. If you like using a different name (i.e. www.yourhost.com) you have to change it within virtual host and mysql database.

So change the line in midgard-data.conf to:

....

Listen 8001

NameVirtualHost host.ip:8001

<VirtualHost host.ip:8001>

 MidgardEngine On

 ServerName www.yourhost.com

 Port 8001

....

and database (midgard) by using

# mysql midgard

mysql> update host set name='www.yourhost.com' where name='localhost';

Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
Rows matched: 4 Changed: 0 Warnings: 0

mysql>quit

After changing that u should reach the page using http://www.yourhost.com:8001/asgard/

Instaed of using www.yourhost.com it is also possible using an ip-adress (i.e. 10.0.0.10) then the server should been reached by http://10.0.0.10:8001/asgard/. (For asgard and Co it doesnt matter what the ServerName in httpd.conf is called only midgard-data.conf is important in that case.)

There are some more things you can check in /path_to/httpd.conf:

LoadModule midgard_modules modules/mod_midgard.so and

AddModule mod_midgard.c should NOT been included in <IfDefine...> </IfDefine> parts.

Make sure that the IP address (defined in VirtualHost) is defined within network and/or DNS table.

Stop httpd and start again.

If you are using a firewall don’t forget to open the port.

Hope this would help, Thomas

PS. Please correct me if I’m wrong in some details…..

hey

i installed midgard on debian GNU/Linux. installation went fine. but

when i try to access on localhost/asgard i get error 404

i could not find any line in the configs pointing to _asgard_. there is

also no folder in the documentroot-dir which could correspond to this value.

did i do anything wrong or is there a mistake in the docs?

i also found that question in the forum below the docs on:

http://www.midgard-project.org/documentation/installation/framework

'I can access http://hostname/asgard' but no one answered this question ...

any ideas?

best
