Since someone started with the MultiLang I'm going to continue. There has been a thing that has really bothered me in the MultiLang - replication. After the DB conversion it's virtually impossible to upgrade packages. (Note: I've been lazy and have not tested David's Repligard patch...)
Another thing that troubles me is the performance. Do we have any statistical data on how regular Midgard site fares against MultiLanged site? (Even if the MultiLang is not really used.)
I just gathered some. The method was:
Perform simple tasks in Aegir in both multilang and non-multilang mode.
Look at the midgard.log.
Modify the log so that the queries make sense to mysql.
Send the queries to mysql 10 times measuring real time elapsed, compute average.
Multilang took 1.49 s on average, non-multilang took 1.23 s.
The number of queries was 8742 for multilang, 8587 non-multilang.
