?? Midgard 1.6 supports PAM so this should be fairly straight forward
easy to do.

(Ok, now we got pam, what I'm missing now is the opportunity to have
Apache handle authentication - but that may wait =) 

When it comes to includes I have to agree with you. A some developers
are also moving in the direction of using files instead of snippets.
This shouldn't be hard to integrate with normal replicationsystems and I
think it might provide some speedbenefits.

Then I quess OpenPSA is a better start :)

But: what are your integration needs? If you got a costumer db, think of
how to link it to midgard w/o having to integrate the whole application.
Maybe pam_mysql + som nasty code to sync users is all you need.

PS: Indy implemented a Midgard-SOAP interface that might be usefull to
you.
