With the release of 1.6.1, I decided to give this another go. I continue to have a segmentation fault problem, but it is very much diminished from previously. Probably a combination of changes to the code (excellent by the way - well done!), new versions of apache 2 and a new version of apr.
If anyone is having Segmentation problems while running Gentoo Linux then this is how I found to fix it - 1: emerge the latest stable version of apache 2 (2.0.52-r1 at time of writing) 2: emerge apr (0.9.2 at time of writing) This solved most of my problems. I am not sure what the difference between the apache included version of apr is and the separately compiled version, but it did make the difference. Now the only time I have found that Aegir segfaults is when you attempt to change the password from the Start - Configuration page (and the password does not change). Its easy to get round - go to 'groups & people', select the person you want to change the password on, click details and change the password there - works without any segfault. One other this though - during install I ended up with multiple locations for blobs, cache etc. What is the defined standard these days?
