Are you using Apache 2 or 1? I had a similar issue using Apache 2 and I had to 
modify the vhost for it to include the port address in the ServerName 
declaration. I would highly suggest hitting the online web archive and checking 
out the thread that I started about a week ago and try the troubleshooting tips 
in there. 

Try running apache2 (or apache) -D DUMP_VHOSTS and see if your vhost is 
appearing. Are you using a plain linux install or a distro?
