If you are reinstalling Sarge, do NOT - I repeat do NOT- install Apache1 if you are trying to use Midgard. I had serious problems with it. Just jump straight to Apache2. Make SURE that when you install packages for Apache2 none of them try to install apache-common (Apache1). Most of the Apache2 stuff is labeled libapache2-mod-<whatever> so use that to make sure.
