I take you don't have backups ?

The metadata (article name, date etc) is gone for good (unless you find
some backups), however since content remains (in article_i table) you
can recreate the metadata (by deducing it from the content somehow), if
there is'n a ton of news (that must be restored) I'd take a MySQL dump
of the contents and then using copy-paste would create wholly new
articles trough AIS, this has the advantage over doing stuff directly in
mysql that you don't need to think about handling all the internal
dependencies of Migard by yourself, if you can recreate the metadata
from the content with regexpses etc then you could automate this, create
a midgard page (or use the "console" in openpsa_manager) that parses you
dump and creates new articles accordingly.

Sorry if this is a bit incoherent, I just woke up.
