Being in the midst of a project involving the Midgard team at Neimen I thought it would be good to document the experience, as well as the things I learn about the functionality, features and quirks of Midgard.

The first nugget that i've learned is that the Datagard command has a download feature built in. How did I find out, well all thanks to jval's note on the #midgard IRC channel.

jval: rguerra: you use debian binaries? you use openpsa 1.x? if you're answer to both of the questions is yes, you can install/ upgrade openpsa 1.x by running "datagard download"

rguerra: I'm using Ubuntulinux

Well, i just tried the datagard command with the "download" argument - and it works quite nice. It does seem that Midgard now has an update/upgrade manager that automatically downloads and imports the needed files. This is a nice feature.

The OpenPSA upgrade went well, and i'm tempted to also upgrade MidCOM - but am not going to ...I won't even try, until I hear back from the Midgard experts on the midgard-users list as well as the ones working on the development on the privaterra server.

My upgrade to MidCOM 2.4 - well, gave me all sorts of issues that took me hours to solve. So, i'll leave the upgrade to MidCOM-2.4.1.tar.bz2 pending , and wait to hear back as to how easy (or not) the upgrade will in fact be.
