Sorry for the noise, removing the following dependency fixed the problem:

<artifactId>plexus-interactivity-api</artifactId>
<version>1.0-alpha-6</version>
</dependency>
It looks like something else depends on 1.0-alpha-4 and upgrading the
dependency breaks things.
