The tests I am talking about are what I would consider regression tests. We do use surefire and the cobertura plugin to run the unit tests for this module also. But the developer created an automated test suite which I used to run from the command line, but then found the maven-exec-plugin and started using that to run the tests. I could go back to the command line, but I really like the way the maven-exec-plugin generated the classpath based on the project dependencies.
