Bernhard, are you sure the GWT shell can generate the async interface?. The graph in this page says the opposite:
http://code.google.com/intl/es/webtoolkit/doc/1.6/DevGuideServerCommunication.html If the maven-gwt-plugin does it and it's failing in this case, shouldn't I report the issue in the Mojo page?.
