In Nutch 1.2 onwards we focus on Solr for indexing. Nutch 1.X provides the necessary input for Solr to create an index from our web/local/filesystem crawls. This is all.
What Nutch focuses on is crawling (predominantly the web) in as efficient, customizable and polite way as possible.
