>Are these continuous crawls? No not continuous or large-scale. Crawls are just run each day. The machine that has the freezing issue was the one I was planning to use to do the daily crawls.

For using a newer version there is a chain of dependencies, I tried seeing if I could just use the latest zookeeper with the older hbase but it didn't work (the API changed I guess). Similarly a newer HBase wouldn't work with gora.
