Nutch 1.8 and Zero Boost

I’m using Nutch 1.8 to crawl my site and send the data to Solr. Nutch appears 
to be assigning a boost of 0 to a number of the documents, which then results 
in them always having a score of 0 in Solr, so they never appear in the search 
results. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
