Ok, I've figured it out. It didn't make sense that nutch was trying to use the elasticsearch indexer instead of the solr indexer. I thought it was enough to have indexer-solr listed before indexer-elastic. It wasn't. When I removed indexer-elastic from the plugin.includes property, indexing worked great. I can now see documents in the Solr index.
