The caBIG project (https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/) used BPEL (as have
other grid computing efforts), and some smart folks are thinking about
how to better integrate BPEL runtimes into the Globus stack (WS-GRAM,
etc.). I can share connections, references, and some experiences if
you're interested. (One of the people who worked on ODE back in the
day is now off studying for a PhD in bioinformatics, as luck would
have it.)
