Hi, I could imagine that there exists lots of research in this field. If there are any researchers from the workflow field on this list, I think they can comment on this and leave some tips on relevant literature. The problem with the described approach is that the ODE engine has to detect whether the data can be deserialized without problems and what instances may be migrated to the new version and which do not.
