Hi,

have you checked the BPEL primer already? Usually you attach a
compensation handler to a scope or invoke activity and model you
compensation logic within this handler. Later you can catch a fault that
triggers the compensation of a scope (compensate activity).

Perhaps slide 20 of [1] could be of help.
