Hi Tim, thanks for the information. I finally managed to compile and run opendm and scanstation with OFBiz 3.0.0. I did not try to configure a scanner though. As far as I see it's about initiating a scan from within and create a Content in OFBiz.
For the moment I will initiate the scan from the scanner (because I have to put the document on the scanner anyway). I plan to digitalize my incoming letter communication (and assign follow up tasks on them). The process looks more or less like this: 1. put the letter on the scanner 2. press the scan button (scan to e-mail/scan to folder function of my scanner) 3. a) case: scan to e-mail -> OFBiz gets an e-mail with the scanned document attached 3 b) case: scan to folder -> a "watchdog" uploads the document (or just the document path) to OFBiz 4. in OFBiz a communication event (Type=LETTER) and a content attached to it (Type=DOCUMENT)is being created plus a WorkEffort (Type=TASK). The scanned document is the content's data resource. 5. go to tasklist in OFBiz and proceed with the "incoming letter tasks" There are many open questions concerning document management (searching, categories, revisions, ...) To have revisions I may change the process and put the scanned documents into subversion and in OFBiz the data resource is going to be a URL Resource pointing to http://svn.xy.com/myrepos/letters/20070709.pdf or component://svnrepos/svn.xy.com/myrepos/letters/20070709.pdf. These will not give me versioning support in OFBiz but I could add it someday (to a certain extent) and for now I have it through direct acces of subversion.
