I have run into the same problem. I could fix it temporary (waiting for the
postgres database update to 8.2.4) changing the following file:
applications/order/servicedef/secas.xml

<eca service="changeOrderStatus" event="commit" run-on-error="false">
        <condition field-name="statusId" operator="equals"
                                                 value="ORDER_COMPLETED"/>
        <condition-field field-name="statusId" operator="not-equals"
                                                 to-field-name="oldStatusId"/>
        <action service="resetGrandTotal" mode="sync"/>
        <!--!!!!!!!!!!!!!action service="sendOrderCompleteNotification"
                                 mode="async" persist="true"/-->
    </eca>

The line with the '!!!' is commented out. Although no ordercompletion mail is
going out, at least the people can keep on working......
