why port number:8443

Hi all
To
access the webtools when i type  the url as: 
https://localhost:8080/webtools/control/main., it changes to
https://localhost:8443/webtools/control/main why is the port number
changed to 8443..and are there any other ways to access webtools..I think I can 
also use my ipaddress.. Can you please clear my doubt..
