I think the issue is more along the lines of: On the Sales-Order side OFBiz will use the product_assoc to convert a MKT_PKG_PICK to get the actual FINISHED_GOOD product; reserve inventory using the finished-good, complete etc.
On the RETURN side, this does not seem to be the case. OFBiz is returning the MKT_PKG_PICK back into inventory. We would expect that the same product_assoc would be used so that the finished_good is returned back into inventory.
